The Place of Others: Weddings, Funerals, and the Work of Dignity in a Tunisian Border Town

Valentina Zagaria ist Sozialanthropologin und forscht als Post-Doctoral Fellow im Projekt "Striking from the Margins" am Center for Religious Studies der Central European University. Sie beschäftigt sich darin mit politischen Aspekten des Lebens libyscher Frauen im langjährigen und zeitweiligen Exil in Tunesien. Zuvor forschte sie ethnografisch in Südtunesien und verfasste darauf basierend ihre Dissertation mit dem Titel Burning borders: migration, death and dignity in a Tunisian coastal town (2020). Zu ihren Publikationen zählen u.a. The Morally Fraught Harga: Migration Blame Games in a Tunisian Border Town (2020, Cambridge Journal of Anthropology), "A Small Story With Great Symbolic Potential": Attempts at Fixing a Cemetery of Unknown Migrants in Tunisia (2020, American Behavioral Scientist) und The clandestine cemetery - Burying the victims of Europe's border in a Tunisian coastal town (2019, Human Remains and Violence: An Interdisciplinary Journal).
