We invite you to the book launch of the newly published monograph by Carolin Leutloff-Grandits on care practices of family members in the translocal space between Opoja, a region in southern Kosovo, and German-speaking EU countries. The book sheds light on multiple dimensions of family care in the context of migration which include not only remittances but also building houses, hosting weddings and supporting migration, often through marriage. Starting from a historically informed perspective that traces the transformation of migration regimes since the 1990s, the book shows how care practices as well as kinship and family are reconfigured along gender and generational lines, while maintaining the connection to the Opoja region as the centre of family life and, more generally, the centrality of the family.

More information on the book as well as the open access download can be found on the Viadrina Center B/ORDERS IN MOTION Website as well as the berghahn Website.
