In the second episode of our podcast Talking Interdisciplinary Polish Studies, a special feature of the academic Polish Studies Blog, we continue our conversation with four of the leading German-speaking Polish studies scholars:

  • Dagmara Jajeśniak-Quast – Professor for Interdisciplinary Polish Studies and head of the Center of the same name at the European University Viadrina in Frankfurt (Oder)
  • Yvonne Kleinmann – Professor for Eastern European History and head of the Aleksander Brückner Center for Polish Studiesat Martin Luther University in Halle
  • Peter Oliver Loew – Head of the German Institute for Polish Affairs in Darmstadt and honorary professor at the Technical University in Darmstadt
  • Ruprecht von Waldenfels – Professor for Slavic Philology at Friedrich Schiller University in Jena and deputy head of the Aleksander Brückner Center

The conversati on is hosted by Anna Labentz, editor-in-chief of Pol-Int. In this second half, we focus on the rather practical facets of Polish studies – cooperation with international scholars of Polish studies and with Polish colleagues; the respective plans and outlooks for the three institutions; as well as our experts’ expectations and hopes for early career Polish studies scholars.

Note: This conversation was recorded in September 2021. As a consequence of the on-going war against Ukraine, the planned study tripalong the Polish-Ukrainian border as mentioned by Dagmara Jajeśniak-Quast has been postponed indefinitely.
